Who is a family session for?
The family is our life’s real treasure. We see it grow and we create memories together. Having those memories captured and immortalised is the only thing you can do to put a stopper on time. That being said, if you are a sensitive, emotional, and somewhat nostalgic person this service is for you. Rather than creating scenarios and looking for perfect poses, I capture life as it is - beautiful with its perfect imperfections. Even though I still do a few traditional family photos, my photoshoots are always focused on spontaneous and candid images - those are my clients’ favourites.
Why should I have family films?
Let’s face it, we all know how fast kids grow - it is almost surreal! New adventures are constantly taking place, their voices change, their interests as well, the way they laugh, play and how they see the world. As parents, you see your kids grow up so fast in front of your eyes, and you already miss every moment. Naturally, you will miss every stage, but that is why family films are a real treasure. It is a half-day of your life documented, where you will see your children’s personality, the funny and cute things they say, and the whole connection between all of you.
High-quality family films are the most vivid memory you will have, full of movements, sounds, stories, and emotions. These films also give you the opportunity to relive these stages of your family’s lives. They are specially designed to provide lots of laughs and tears for you, your kids and future generations.

Can I still have a session?
Believe it or not, but I hear this all the time, and my answer will forever be YES! I assure you that I don’t expect you to know how to pose, especially when it comes to your kids. I am all about the candid portrayal and genuine feel. As a part of my job, as a videographer and photographer, I will guide you only when necessary in order to create a natural moment of fun, care and love. For example, you will be playing and interacting naturally with each other. You won’t have any pressure nor the need to perform.
Our top priority is your children’s routine and interests. We want them to feel comfortable and as happy as possible for the session! Only then we can extract that authentic charm that your lovely family has.
When should I book my pregnancy session?
I would recommend having your maternity session between 28-34 weeks. This is a perfect time because the bump has an already defined shape, plus it is just before you possibly experience low energy levels. To ensure that you will be able to make a booking at the perfect time, please get in contact at least a month in advance.
When should I book a newborn session?
The BEST time frame to hold a newborn session is within the first 2 weeks. After that, your little one will gradually become more aware and will tend to wake up more easily. That makes it a little harder for settling and posing.
Please, contact me at any time during your pregnancy and give me an estimated due date and secure your booking. Once your baby arrives, we will confirm your session date or reschedule it.
When should I book a family session?
For family sessions, the perfect time is always now! Every moment of your kid’s childhood is unique and worthy to be captured. They grow up in a blink of an eye and they won’t be that little forever. As an experienced photographer and videographer, I can definitely say that every age has its own beautiful particularities when it comes to capturing its charm.
How long does a photo shoot take?
Pregnancy and family sessions range from 1 to 3 hours. This depends solely on the package you choose. For example, if your package includes a storytelling film, your session will take approx. 3 hours. The idea behind it is to document a half-day of your family time, so I will be following the routine and activities that YOU would like to have captured.
How long does a newborn session take?
The newborn session takes approx. 3 hours. There is no rush at all when it comes to these photo shoots. I know how sensitive newborn babies are and I’m really patient to wait until they get calm and sleepy to be safely and carefully posed. Most of the sessions include posing, feeding and comforting.
How long does it take to get my images?
In approximately 4 weeks from your session, your photos will be available in an online private gallery. If the photos are good quality in black and white, they will also be uploaded. You can use the online gallery to select digital files and prints, depending on your package. The USB device (including all files) and photo products, takes an extra 3 weeks.
When it comes to the film, you will be available to watch it online via a private link, approx. 6 weeks from the day of your session. The video also includes music licensing and professional colour grading. You will also get a USB device which takes an additional 3 weeks to be delivered via postcode.
The photobooks are designed and available for online approval within 6 weeks from the day of your session. If you require some adjustments or changes, this would take an additional week as it is necessary to update to a new version. The final delivery takes 4 weeks from the moment the layout is approved.
Do you retouch the images?
Yes, but my style is natural and candid. All of the images will be retouched to that level where only the colours will be enhanced and the light adjusted. I will not over-use digital manipulation that could create a fake and unnatural result. Photoshop is only welcomed in minor situations, for example in the case of cuts and scrapes. I believe that by using the best angles and composition while shooting, there is no reason for further manipulation.
Where is my session happening?
There are a few options. For example, we can plan a session at your home, at the beach or even in a local park that you love. Furthermore, I am happy to recommend some places, but the most important thing is to choose a location where your family feels comfortable. Also, depending on the package you choose, and the travel time between locations; we can shoot at two different locations for more variety.
Where is the newborn session happening?
For newborn sessions, the shoot will be happening at your home, I practice this because in this way it will be comfortable for you and your baby. I also bring a few props and wraps to combine with your baby’s personal things.
Can I reschedule the session?
If the weather is not favourable, we can postpone the session for another day. Please note that cloudy days are still suitable for shooting, trust me, sometimes it is even better because the light becomes softer. I love it!

What should I wear?
Your session will be a memory of who you were at this time, so please feel free to wear what suits your style. Basically, wear something that would make you feel comfortable in order to enjoy the day. In essence, there are NO rules, but I would recommend wearing something that won’t get too much attention because what is important for us is for the focus to be on facial expressions and your connection as a family.
Choose neutral and earthy colours in contrast to strong, and bright ones - they usually work better. Also, make sure to avoid strong or sparkly patterns, visible logos and thin stripes - they will attract too much attention. Instead, pay attention to complement colours between everyone instead of matching them.
When it comes to children, costumes can be very cute as well, but in that case, feel free to also bring a second option to have more variety in the result.
For pregnancy sessions, you will have more options because pregnancy clothes work very well. The attire can feature maxi dresses, dresses that tie at the waist, skirts with a crop top to reveal your baby bump, etc. If we are shooting in your home, then you can also wear a bodysuit, or underwear with a kimono, or a white shirt. This will enable you to bring more variety to your session. But don’t worry, once we book your session, I can send some references and help you make the right attire choice.

Where are you based?
Le Birck Films and Photos is based in Adelaide, but we are also available for family films all over Australia. The travel fee will vary depending on your location.
How much does it cost?
Standard family packages start from $597. This includes the session fee + online private gallery + all digital photo files in high resolution.

Do you charge for travel?
A travel fee will be applied only for locations that go further than 30 min drive from Grange, South Australia.
